Hello All,
Just to give you a heads up, you may have noticed that the last email update came from a different email address - info@campkatrina.com. You may also have noticed that our current website at www.clcgulfcoast.com is in need of some updating. With the help of Dan Nagel, a volunteer from Minnesota, who is giving his time and energy to help us to make things easier for volunteers wishing to set up teams to come down - we are working on updating some website things.
So - here is a list of some of the changes that are already done:
1) We now have a new website we are working on at www.campkatrina.com - the old website at www.clcgulfcoast.com is still operating as our primary website for information, but sometime in the next few months we hope to transfer everything to the new site (which currently has a link to the clcgulfcoast.com site)
2) If you go to the www.campkatrina.com site you will see a "login" and a "register" link at the top right corner of the page. This is so you can update your information - even though we are still working on this site, you can go in even now and click on register to input your information and add a password. Some of the things that are asked for include, your contact information (so that if you come on a team in the future we have it), your church information, and your skill information. This information is ONLY used by Christian Life Center. At the bottom of the profile page is a checkbox that you can choose whether you would like to receive our monthly updates on. If you choose to receive them now, and change your mind later (or vice versa) then you only need to login and change your settings.
3) If someone wants to be added to the monthly update list, all they need to do is go to www.campkatrina.com and click on register and follow the prompts.
Here is a list of what we are working on now.
1) In the near future someone wanting to set up a team will be able to do so from this site by registering (or editing) their information and clicking on a checkbox that says "I am a group leader". Once this is done the administrator (currently Shannon Lenox) will contact you to verify that you want to set up a team. Then the group leader will have access to a new option once they login which will allow them to set up a team directly from this site. Each team member they choose will then receive an email from them automatically asking them to complete a profile with skill's and this information will automatically be updated for us and for the team leader.
2) Ultimately we will transfer our site completely over the www.campkatrina.com and what you see as the primary page of that website now will become a volunteer page.
We are excited about the changes and thankful for all of the work that Dan is putting into this - the goal here is to make it easier for a team leader to set up a team and communicate with their team in preperation for coming, make it easier for us to send out updates to those that wish to receive them and easier for people to change information that changes, such as their email address, without it being an inconvenient or time consuming process so that everyone get's the latest updates that wishes to.
There will be another update from Pastor George coming sometime in the next two weeks. And just as an FYI, with the new site and updates, there may be a couple of extra emails that we send out over the next month to you. I know many of you (if you are like me) can get overwhelmed with emails, so I want you to know that we send out about one update per month on a normal basis.
