CAMP KATRINA UPDATE October 3
OPERATION FINISH WELL
Greetings fellow warriors:
I want to say a “BIG” thank you to all of you that have been praying and keeping Waveland before our wonderful Heavenly Father. God has been doing some tremendous things. Remember the urgent request concerning Maverick and Denise. As you know, Maverick OD on pain killers last week. His prognosis wasn’t good at all. Praise God, he has recovering and is in better spirits today. Mark has spent some time with him and we are trusting God for his salvation. Wouldn’t that be a powerful blow to the enemy of darkness, stealing one of his own in the midst of bondage! WOW! I get spiritual goose bumps just thinking about it. Let’s PRAY this one through.
Denise, who is a believer is so encouraged to know that hundreds of people have been praying for them. Denise and Maverick are still in a FEMA Trailer. Another good praise report, we have teams that will be working on their house and with some special funding, they could be out of that FEMA Housing into their home in a few short weeks. What a blessing that will be. Can I hear a few shouts of “Glory to God,” out there? That’s better…I was getting worried about you!
I am also very pleased with the response of volunteers for the remainder of this year. You guys have been calling around and shaking some bushes. We still have need for a bunch more in October and November, but we are so grateful for the renewed interest. We can see the light now at the end of the tunnel. The more volunteers we get the quicker we get the 200 jobs done that are still before us. I am really hoping to get at least 25-50 done before the new year.
Here are some prayer requests that we want to keep before you:
Melissa Young, Mark’s wife, has experienced severe joint pain all over body since arriving in Waveland. We are treating at as stress related, the long move, two small children, etc. Pray that God will completely remove all pain and that she will be 100% in order to join Mark in this exciting but taxing ministry.
Pray for the Salvation of Maverick and the completion of their home in the coming weeks.
Pray for the selling of David and Donna’s home in Toccoa, Georgia. They have accepted the call to come and help in the Pastoral Care ministry. We need them as quickly as they can get here. They can’t come without selling their home. Let’s trust God together for this one.
It will cost $5000 to refurbish a home that has been given to us to use for David and Donna while they are in Waveland. We have some supplies, but lack others. $5000 would cover the materials needed to redo the electric and plumbing, floors, etc. We have teams coming to get the house ready for electric and sheetrock etc, but we need some funds to help cover some major expenses. Pray with us. We would like to have a home for the Pastor before he arrives. Dave and Donna are coming without promise of salary and with no home to live in. That is a tremendous step of FAITH. To many in our world, that would be considered insane. However in God’s World and Family, we call it FAITH! Dave and Donna have heard form the LORD and our coming. They are holding on to Hebrews 6:10. READ THAT VERSE….IT IS POWERFUL!
Pray for the safety of the Volunteers coming over these next months. Most travel over a thousand miles to help us.
Pray for our current staff: Mark and Melissa Young, Directors of Community Development, Shannon Lenox, Coordinator of Volunteer Services, Gary Greene, Coordinator for Building and Remolding. Brett Larson is working as Relief Coordinator and is helping in all facets of the ministry. Dale and Peggy will arrive soon and will help in Food Services and Maintenance.
Pray for John and Chrissy Rohrmayer as they raise support to come and head the Building and remolding department for at least a year. Gary will be leaving in December and Brett is looking at returning to Seminary.
Pray for George and his family as they continue to serve our Lord. They are looking ahead to the next page in their spiritual journey. They live in Ft. Myers Florida.
Pray for Larry and Jane Rieck as they move towards Ordination in Wisconsin. They did a tremendous job in helping with rebuilding homes and lives during their time with us. They sense God’s Call for full time ministry.
Pray for Genesis Church. We live nearly 3 hours South East of Waveland and are fully engaged in the rebuilding of homes and lives on the Gulf Coast.
Pray for the Strategic Planning needed to discover some “Funding Streams” that will maintain the Recovery and Church Ministries n Waveland and Bay St. Louis. We need to see what God desires in terms of finding a revenue gathering ministry that will bless the community and help sustain long term the church planting effort. We are looking at several ideas. These are just a few:
Day Care
Tutoring
Thrift Shop
Catering Services
Business Center
English Classes
Counseling Center
Your prayers for us are greatly appreciated and so very much needed.
Be Blessed and thanks again.
Pastor Don Young
