Christian and Missionary Alliance

Greetings from Waveland,

I extend a huge thank you for the exceptional spirit shown through Canadians and others from around the United States that help build,  love people, and to those who make this ministry possible financially. AND special thanks to all the pastors who have sent some of their best to help us with these people in crisis. There are still many not yet helped who seem to be in greater emotional crisis now than right after the storm.

Highlights of one week in Waveland:

·       A construction worker who was hoping to be in his home within 6 months still isn’t in his house. He has four foster children, two adopted children, and two of his own – a total of eight children in a trailer. We have been able to help him and the home is nearing completion.  With the help of volunteers and financial gifts from God's children we were able to provide kitchen cabinets,  interior and exterior electrical  and painted the inside and exterior of his home. He is elated with the work that our team of volunteers has been able to accomplish.  We also provided a steak BBQ for his family, extended family and volunteers... It was actually a small party with 25+ people.  We played with the kids and had a great time!  He and his family have attended some of our church activities and have enjoyed them.  He professes to be a Christian, but is not presently connected with any church body.  Our hope is to start a Bible study in his home when it is completed.

·       A lady and her husband who are witches said her pagan friends haven't helped anybody. But she commented that she was very impressed by the Christians that have rallied together to help so many people. She asked if we would help her mother.  We were so pleased to tell her that we had already earlier in the week completed the job for her mom. She was so happy and open to the Lord's goodness that she gave us 20 sheets of 12 foot drywall which we took to another job site (after praying over it).

·       Helping rebuild a place for a woman who needed to flee from an abusive boyfriend.

·       We installed flooring, provided electrical work and corrected some work that other paid construction workers had messed up (a common problem down here)  for an elderly man on oxygen, who knows he does not have long to live.  He told us that in his whole life he’s never had anybody do anything this loving for him. As a result he has been very open to the gospel and to be prayed for.

A word of encouragement to the Ladies:

I was so blessed by a recent example of a brave heart demonstrated through a woman.  In a home that we worked on this past month; black widow spiders were a real problem.  I would render to say that most men would admit to not particularly liking spiders, but I'm pretty sure based on my wife's reactions and comments that most woman HATE spiders.  Laying this as my foundation, I found it incredibly touching to see that our women volunteers figured out a way to get past this fear.  As one brave woman went into the spider infested home to exterminate, the other women bravely stood as prayer warriors praying for her protection.  That's what I call Team work!  Ladies, we need you too.  There's much to be done for the Kingdom of God and He loves what You can "bring to the table- and I don't just mean food.  We would love to have more woman be a part of what God is doing here in Waveland.  Consider bringing a group of friends or your ladies group, we will find things for you to do- we know you will be blessed!!!

We very much appreciate where the Lord himself flows through the generosity of his people with their time, energy and money.

Amazed by his grace,
