Christian and Missionary Alliance

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your prayers! The eye of Hurricane Gustav hit land about 150 miles away and Waveland was spared the brunt of the storm. Though a few homes were flooded, the community overall fared well.  There was an 11 foot water surge that damaged the beaches, but there was not much water damage beyond that point.  The Center was not impacted and our Quonset huts for the Thrift Store managed to stay upright and intact. Most of the community evacuated and things are returning to normal this weekend. Many of the people I have spoken with are extremely grateful that Gustav stayed away and attribute it to divine intervention. We are still assessing community damage and do not have much in the way of specifics to report. Thank you all for your eager willingness to help if called upon. Your prayers and passion for this community were felt.

We are keeping a very close eye on Hurricane Ike and would ask that everyone pray that “Ike take a HIKE”! Our plan is to stay nimble this week as we track this next storm. We plan to make additional assessments this week; once we have more clarity on Ike’s path we will provide more specific ways that you can help with relief efforts.

Thanks again for your continued love, prayers, and support,
