Christian Life Center Update: Long Term Volunteer Opportunity Available
Have you ever had an experience in your life where you had very mixed reactions to the events involved? On one hand, your immediate reaction is one of apprehension or unhappiness. While one the other hand, your well thought out and trusting in the Lord reaction is one of excitement and joy! Which one do you think is of “the Flesh” and to be rejected, and which one do you think is “of God” and to be embraced? Well the truth is it depends upon the facts and the actual circumstances of the event doesn’t it?
At the Christian Life Center we have events unfolding that in and of themselves, are capable of producing both, or either of these reactions. As you know, the Christian Life Center is operated by long-term volunteer staff whom God has called to His service. That call can vary in length of time. While many of you as volunteers have developed deep and strong bonds with staff members, just think of how close we can become with each other as staff members. When God calls one of the staff to another location the immediate reaction of our flesh can, if we give in to it, cause concern or even fear. But God has taught us to trust Him very deeply. The most important thing for us as staff at CLC is to learn to walk by faith and not by sight. Well God is giving all of us another lesson in this process.
John Rohrmayer, our long time Construction Manager and Volunteer Coordinator Staff Member has received a call from God for further steps in his life. You may be aware that at God’s calling John has followed a second career path with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, while at CLC, which has resulted in John being approved as a Christian and Missionary Licensed Worker. This is a path that is focused upon ministry. Now this is where the mixed reactions start to really set in. You see, this is a wonderful path that God has taken John on and we need to rejoice with John in this, and embrace it as being of God. A wonderful result, right? Yes, a wonderful result!
The area of “potential or possible” apprehension tries to arise from is that John is a valued and talented Staff Member. Our flesh attempts to exert its influence and cause fear, anxiety, and doubt. But what a great opportunity for all of us to walk in faith and the trust of the Lord is now presented. We talk a lot about trusting in the provision of God and walking in faith here at CLC. Think back to the trips you have been on and how trust in God’s provision has been a major theme of life here. So now we have an excellent opportunity to live what we say. God is good, praise Him.
We want to invite you to do two things with us. First, to be excited and rejoice for John and Christy Rohrmayer, and this new Call of God upon their lives, and to raise them up in prayer and seek God’s blessing and provision for the entire Rohrmayer family. We ask you not only to pray now, but to keep the Rohrmayer family in your prayers throughout this new endeavor that God is calling them to.
Second, we seek your prayers for God to raise up John’s successor. We are not seeking “another John”, but rather we are seeking the person who God is calling to be here. We ask God not only to raise up the person that He desires, but also to gift that person with the skills, abilities and personality to carry out God’s plan from here into the future at Christian Life Center. You see, we have seen God work so profoundly at CLC that we have firmly come to believe that whomever God calls to a position, He will also gift according to the needs of fulfilling that position. Therefore the first and foremost criteria for the person we are seeking as John’s successor, is that that person has a call from God to be in Waveland as a CLC staff member. Two essential verses to us here at Christian Life Center are:
Jeremiah 9:23
“This is what the LORD says: ‘Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches,
but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the LORD.”
John 15:4-6
“4 ‘Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.’ “
These verses tell and convince us that without our focus and trust clearly and completely upon our Lord Jesus we cannot accomplish anything, but if we keep our eyes upon Him and trust Him for all provision, we have nothing to fear or worry about. We know that God already has a replacement or replacements reserved for the work at CLC. We ask you to pray and see if you or someone you know might be the person whom God has in mind. Contact us if you hear a call.
